NECROPHIGIA成立于美国俄亥俄州，核心人物是主唱Killjoy。早在1987年，第一张专辑《亡灵族的季节》就发行了。这张专辑现在被认为是死亡金属非常重要的萌芽作品。

虽然受《杀戮者》和《附身》的影响很大，但NECROPHAGIA的兴趣并不在玩法技巧或鞭击金属所追求的速度快感上。如果纯粹从音乐的角度，听起来就没那么有趣了。

但正如专辑封面上的僵尸们所展示的那样，他们狞笑着，凶残无比。
